How can I become a Versus Scout?

Anyone from 15 years of age with access to an Android device, or a non-smartphone is qualified to be a Versus scout. All you need to do is go through these simple steps to successfully become a scout:

Download the Versus Scouts App from the Google Play Store on your Android device
Input your mobile number
Confirm your phone number using the OTP sent to your phone via SMS and/or WhatsApp
Fill in your first name and last name
Select your country and state

Now that I have fully set up the app, what’s next?

Once you have completed the onboarding process and successfully verified by our team, you can start answering available survey questions, and you can also turn on notifications so as to get notified when there is a new survey question.

What is a Versus Credit?

A Versus credit is what a Versus Scout earns for responding to a survey question. The more questions you answer, the more credits you earn. These credits will be stored safely in your wallet and you are able to cash out in your local currency when you accrue up to the minimum amount required.

How many Versus Credits must you have before you can cash out?

Versus has a proprietary credit system that changes from time to time. A Versus Scout has to reach the minimum credit accrual (33 credits) at any given time before cash out is possible. At this point the Versus Scout may be connected to third party enablers to manage the cash out process.

I would like to be a Scout but I don’t have a smartphone

Scouts without a smartphone can access surveys through our USSD interface.

Sign up, by answering a couple of questions
You will receive an SMS when there is a new survey that matches your demography.
Dial the USSD code *347*345# to proceed and answer questions.
You can also cash out using the same USSD code.

How frequently are surveys sent out?

Surveys are deployed as soon as they are available, with a limited number of responses as indicated by the organisation. Ensure your notifications are enabled to receive alerts for new survey questions.

What kind of surveys should I expect to respond to?

Surveys vary. There are two basic types of surveys available on Versus - Text surveys and Media (Picture, Video and Audio) surveys. Surveys are created and sent out by brands to gain more insights into certain subject matters. They choose the particular demography they want the survey to reach and if you fit the selected demographic, you will receive the survey.

How do I know I am responding to a survey question correctly?

There is no wrong or right response to a survey question so long as they are honest and consistent answers, which are constantly reviewed by the Versus Insights team for quality assurance.

What is the stipulated timeline to respond to questions in any given survey?

There’s no timeline, surveys are closed out automatically when the target number of Versus Scouts complete the survey.

I received a text notification, but I can't find any surveys. Why?

Surveys have a specific quota of responses from Versus Scouts. Once this quota is met, the survey ends and is no longer available on your dashboard, even if you received a notification. Act swiftly to respond to surveys and avoid missing out. Don’t forget to turn up in-App or Web notifications.

Is it compulsory to respond to every survey?

You are free to respond to as many surveys that are available to you.

Can I modify a survey response after submission?

Once a survey response has been submitted, it cannot be altered. This is because Versus Credit has already been awarded for that specific survey response.

I misplaced/changed my phone, how do I restore my progress?

You can simply Download the Versus Scouts App from the Google Play Store on your Android device, and log in to the app with your registered number.

What happens if my phone goes off while I am responding to a survey?

Your progress is saved as you respond to survey questions, and you can pick up where you left off so long as the survey is still available.

I have been responding to survey questions, when can I withdraw?

A Versus Scout has to reach a minimum credit accrual (33 credits) before cash out is enabled which will be visible on your app or phone. At this point the Versus Scout may be connected to third party enablers to manage the cash out process.

I have cashed out, how long before the money gets into my account?

Accounts are credited within, we have partners that handle the payment processing. In Nigeria, we leverage Paystack to send money to your personal bank account if you have one, and Paga for scouts that use mobile money and/or cash.

I did not receive any Versus Credits after responding to a survey, what can I do?

For assistance on Versus Credit-related issues, or general inquiries, you can reach out to our support team via email on scouts@versus.africa and we will respond and rectify as soon as possible.

What is the current conversion rate for 1 Versus Credit to Naira?

1 Versus Credit is equivalent to $0.50, but the Naira equivalent is variable and not fixed.

Is my identity safe?

Versus will never disclose the identity of its Versus Scouts network. We strictly abide by GDPR data protection laws.

Other than earning Versus Credits, what are the other benefits of being a Versus Scout?

As a Versus Scout, you become part of a network seen as a trusted source of information by the best brands locally and globally. More so, you help these brands improve the quality of their goods and services for consumers.

Do I get a referral bonus if I refer people to join the program?

We currently do not have a referral program, but it’s coming very soon.

Why was I blacklisted?

If you violate any of the Versus Scout’s guidelines such as using multiple numbers to take surveys, you may be blacklisted. We value honesty within our community and enforce this principle rigorously.
